I too have a new camera

Since I was getting tired of Katie's posts about her new camera and how great it is (just kidding!) I thought I would post this lovely photo that I took of my little man. First of all, it's much easier to get a great shot with a camera that clicks faster than 30 seconds, and second of all, it's much clearer and just AWESOME! Haha. He's my cutie-pie!
I'm thinking I should start my own photography business since I have all this experience and all. LOL.

Good morning!!!! WAKE UP!!!

There is a rooster somewhere behind my house that likes to wake me up as the sun comes up. It's amazing how something so small can make that much noise, but it really isn't too loud here at home. He's somewhere off in the distance, but he still manages to do his job quite well. I actually kind of like it...I'm not really one for sleeping in on the weekends (I would much rather sleep in Monday-Friday when I should be at work) and it kind of reminds me of growing up out in the country. There are some nice sounds. The nice sounds are only nice when they are off in the distance though. If this thing was next door, I probably would have shot it by now.

Cleaning out my phone

So I was cleaning out all the pictures off my phone so i wanted a way to make sure i could save them...so here they are. There's a nice random one in there for V-Diddy!

Ryan's down for the count

Ryan had surgery this morning related to a tooth implant that he got when he was 14 (Yes...that was 20 years ago). I was informed by the doctor that they started research on implants in 1985 (when I was 1) and Ryan had it done in 1989 (when I was 5), so a lot has changed since then. His implant is fine, but the crown is loose so it will need to be replaced. The point of the surgery today was to do a bone graft at the top of his gums (above his front tooth). For some reason, this area of his mouth never healed correctly and was kind of hollow. So the doctor went in, cut him open, and inserted a cow bone or something else from another kind of donor. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and his body doesn't reject it. He's not feeling very well, but is definitely getting caught up on his sleep. While driving home from the hospital, he told me he thought he could have driven himself. He immediately followed this thought with, "I would have to close one eye though". I couldn't stop laughing at his funnies and the fact that he could hardly open a bottle of gatorade...yeah, I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want some drugged up, weak, one eyed, puffy lipped person driving a car on the same road I was on.

Oh yeah...and then there's Mexico...

I was bored at work today and started thinking about what I want to do for my Big Quarter Century Birthday that's coming up in May. Since my birthday always falls around Memorial Day weekend, I figured I would take the day off (it's the Tuesday after Memorial Day) anyway, but was trying to figure out what to do. All of the hotels we like in Austin are already booked, so that's out of the question. So I started researching on my favorite website, http://www.homeaway.com/, and realized that Cozumel is actually quite affordable, and the flight is only 2 hours direct on Continental. So, I've recruited Melissa (that was easy) and Chad and Mark and Ashley to see if they had any interest. Once they realized how much money we were talking, they were all pretty interested. There are 2 villas that we are interested in staying at...one is directly on the beach (and about an extra $75 per night) and the other is a little farther away but is on 1/2 acre and has a private pool (the owner is also very nice and has been very helpful via email). Here are some pictures of the places...feel free to give me your 2 cents.

Ms. Bain, the teacher?

I've been contemplating getting my teacher certification for quite some time now, but have only recently really started looking into alternative certification programs. Thanks to Katie and her advice, I've started the application process for Region IV Educational Programs. I've chosen to teach high school English and Language Arts. With this program, if I have 24 hours of English in college, I would have the opportunity to start a fully paid internship right away while doing online course work that will help me get my certificate. Unfortunately, I have 21 hours of college English, so I am appealing with one of my communications courses to take the place of the missing class. If this does not work, I will have to take some state test that shows that I know what I'm talking about in the subject, so we'll see. I think this is something I will enjoy, but I know that I will, without a doubt, enjoy having lots of time off in the summer time! I'll keep everyone posted on the appeal.
